Company Description
Enabling fossil freedom that drives society forward – that is our purpose. We are looking for talented students who want to help us on our journey towards fossil freedom. By writing a thesis at SKB, you will have a unique opportunity to contribute to our purpose.
SKB's mission is to manage used nuclear fuel and radioactive waste from Swedish nuclear power plants to protect human health and the environment in the short and long term.
SKB has begun the projects to expand the existing facility for low- and intermediate-level waste, SFR, as well as preparatory work for the Spent Nuclear Fuel Repository. SKB's Project department is responsible for the implementation of programs, projects, and assignments within the company.
About the Role
About the Thesis
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze and investigate whether dewatered, nitrogen-containing sediments from the drainage water generated during tunneling for the Spent Nuclear Fuel Repository in Forsmark can be marketed locally or regionally.
The background to the work is SKB's ambition to reduce the environmental impact of operations by decreasing the amount of waste sent to landfills.
The goal is to provide SKB with information about the content of the sediments, investigate opportunities to utilize the sediments as, for example, fertilizers locally or regionally, and calculate the climate impact of the various disposal alternatives.
This assignment is for one or two students.
